Welcome to the Salza Valley!
The Salzaline team wishes you a pleasant stay in our beautiful natural landscape..
Who are we?
Salzaline is the management agency of the Salza in Styria, owned by the Gemeinde Landl Infrastrukturentwicklungs-KG partnership. We want to make your stay with us special, and to enable you to have an unforgettable whitewater experience.
The Salza is in need . . .
The Salza is one of Austria’s most beautiful wild rivers, but the exploding visitor numbers in recent years are putting this jewel of nature under stress. Unregulated parking, uncoordinated loading and unloading of boats, overcrowded river entry and exit zones, etc. are commonplace along the Salza river. New regulatory measures and facilities have become an absolute necessity, and should help to relieve the pressures on this situation in future. In order to be able to set up and maintain these facilities, parking and stopping fees will be payable at heavily frequented entry and exit zones via the „Salzaline Ticket”, from June 1, 2018, by all Salza users, whether residents or visitors. All revenues will go towards the maintenance and expansion of the facilities, offering visitors the following benefits:
- well equipped toilet facilities and shower rooms
- parking and stopping areas
Facilities are signposted to make them easily identifiable to visitors.
Where can you get the Ticket?
Tickets for both outdoor activity providers and private customers are available at the Wasserlochklamm Visitor Centre.. Day passes for kayaks/canoes and multi-seaters for up to three persons can also be purchased directly from selected partners (such as local rafting operators, tourist accommodation, restaurants and municipal offices).
Recommendations
Safety equipment is an absolute requirement to enjoy this experience. Inexperienced whitewater freaks must be accompanied by professional guides. Our local outdoor activity providers guarantee you a safe and, above all, unforgettable first whitewater experience.
What else you should know.
Use of the signposted parking and stopping areas without a valid Salzaline Ticket will be penalised. Unlawful use of the area will attract a prosecution for trespassing. An annual agreement must be concluded for commercial use. For day visits, all commercial providers must register for the use of the entry and exit points at the Wasserlochklamm Visitor Centre in Palfau.
